Espooky Tales Book Club for Busy People
A horror book club for busy people, we aim to read horror by Latine authors and we take our time with each book, since we are busy people.
Current Book: Gods of Jade and Shadow by Sylvia Moreno-Garcia
We chose this as book one for the book club because many of the myths and legends we have discussed on the podcast make an appearance. In Gods of Jade and Shadow, you meet Casiopea Tun, who lives with her not so nice abuelo and primo, Martin. They say she should be grateful, but she just wants to escape and be free of them. One day, she finds a box and sets off on an adventure involving Maya Gods and demons, all while the jazz age in 1920s Mexico is on full blast.
Since we are close to finishing this book, we are sending out the questionnaire, so that you all have time to finish reading and send in your answers to the questions. We’ll include them in the book club episode!
